Dan-Ah Kim has been on my radar ever since I happened upon her Etsy page last year. I’ve been hooked ever since. What I like most about her illustrations are how simple yet emotive they are. Every time I look at Le Sigh, my heart breaks a little. Of course, I may be interpreting it in a completely different way than she intended, but I love it nonetheless. There is something sort of lonely and longing about a lot of her subjects that really speaks to me for some reason. Her muted palette with little punches of color is just gorgeous. On the other hand, there are some really beautiful and wistful prints that play on the other emotions, but I’m just drawn to the more introspective ones.
As if being an incredible illustrator isn’t enough, she recently worked on Death Cab For Cutie’s video for I Will Possess Your Heart. A song, by the way, which is utterly mesmerizing. The video is equally dreamy. Check it out. Holy build up. Wait for it, it’s worth it.
